Gifts to Give

{article via Southern Living}
When we stumbled across the Haute Papier booth
at the New York Stationery Show the second time around,
we knew we had found a show favorite for 2011.
Recently featured in Southern Living, we were excited to meet them.
The corner booth was buzzing with energy, the product was great,
and the prices for letterpress (yes, letterpress!) were hard to beat.
We were sold.
We're pretty sure once you take a look in store,
you will be too.

We Do: Succulents

succulent: 1) a. full of juice b. moist and tasty 2) rich in interest.

If you are looking for just one thing to inspire your entire wedding or party, look no further. It is all about the succulent plant and just how, well, succulent it really is. This one plant, in all its varieties and textures and colors, can be the perfect starting point for inspiration from beginning to end. Starting with your event colors. Here are two color inspiration boards perfectly pleasing.

Simple, rustic and elegant bridal bouquets.

Succulents can even adorn the bride's hair in lieu of a traditional veil.

Bridal party bouquets are simple and beautiful against a pop of color.

And of course, boutonnieres for the men.

Is this not the most perfect ring bearer pillow? And so easy to make.

An amazing backdrop.
Easy to create your own vertical succulent wall in any venue.

Flora and Grubb have a great DIY kit available here.
And to think that you could actually keep the floral decorations after the event.
That is just one of the many beautiful things about succulents.

Wreaths of succulents would be great decor as well.

Perfect escort cards and guest favor in one.

And a great table set up with succulents
at one of our favorite rustic venues, Devil's Thumb Ranch.

Simply elegant.

Perfect place settings for a smaller affair.

And of course, the cake. There is always room for more.

How sweet it is.

Thankful This Tuesday

Came across this illustrated card this morning via laurageorge on etsy
and was reminded just how thankful I am. We all are.
I could add a dozen more items to the list above, but this is a good start.
A very good start.

Wedding Inspiration: Something Blue

Coming up for air from the hustle and bustle of June and July weddings, we are now preparing for the fall and winter "I Do's." Recently we stumbled across some sweet and romantic ways to incorporate something blue into your wedding.

Love this personalized touch for your wedding dress. Imagine if you kept your dress and passed it down to future generations and they continued the tradition. Just so lovely and unexpected, too.

We've all seen the perfectly adorned underside of shoes with blue crystals and the wedding date or bride&groom initials. But we haven't seen something like this. Bridal party members and family signed the bottom of the bride's shoes in blue sharpie. Sort of gives new meaning to talking the talk and walking the walk.

 via Christian Dior
You could always go the couture route and wear a dress from Christian Dior, beautifully lined in a blue and white fabric. Just enough color to really make a memorable entrance.

Or just be a princess (like a certain someone) and rock a sapphire rock as your engagement ring.

theHELLOtote: Boston

Last month we did an order for theHELLOtote in Boston! Lots of ideas for Beantown were discussed - Boston Tea Party Tea, Lobster Gummies, Cape Cod Potato Chips, Ballpark Peanuts - but ultimately this is what the client chose. After all, this was a corporate event and we had to keep everyone fueled and focused!
Water, Energy Drink, Trail Mix, Apple, Peanut Butter, Boston Baked Beans (had to get a local classic in there somewhere!), Map, Sunscreen Wipes and a Hangover Kit.
A walking map was in order, as events were taking place over the course of several days from the Prudential Center to Fenway to the North End.

Gotta love Boston!

Horseshoe Market

Over the weekend, I had a chance to visit the Horseshoe Market in Denver. I knew I was in the right place the minute I saw the big "HOWDY!" sign greeting me on the sidewalk. Multiple craft and flea market vendors set up shop, along with a few delicious food vendors too. First stop, Cake. And a delectable homemade cherry pop tart. Went perfectly with an iced tea from MODesTEA. But on to the shopping highlights...

Can't wait to check out their store in Historic Downtown Littleton.
Their booth was a complete treasure trove.

Looking forward to their upcoming Screen printing Workshops.

Her jewelry is so gorgeous in person.
The perfect bridesmaid, sister, mom, best friend, myself gift.

Fantastic local microsoapery (don't you love that!)
with only the finest for your finest. Can't wait to try the sugar scrub.

A romantic, vintage appeal with clothing, bags and beautiful art.

Fabulous screen printed brooches and necklaces.

Fantastic upcycled and vintage inspired burp cloths and kitchen linens.

Fun and funky art prints. Including the neighborhoods of Denver.
Check out her etsy site for more of her great city prints.

Watching her make a notebook, at the booth, was fascinating.
What a joy to think that the consumer can be a part of the whole process.

Shabby chic refinished furniture. I wanted it all.

Upcycled, recycled and vintage furniture finds.
They had the best file cabinet end tables.

Retro, hand-tailored children's clothing. Super, super cute.

And of course, one last stop for lunch on the way out from
NZ's Smokin' Guns BBQ. Another foodie success.
Just glad I didn't stop at Cream City Treats on the way to the car.
The ice cream sandwiches looked delish - not sure I could
have stopped at just one with the crazy heat we had!

Mark your calendars for the next Horseshoe Craft Fair
on Saturday, October 1st from 9 am - 4 pm.
