In honor of Fat Tuesday, we'll be making this King Cake, as pictured above. Are you drooling? We totally are. And our kids will love the sprinkles. Especially the purple ones. Our celebration will be tame (definitely rhymes with lame) and at home this year. We'll probably toss around a few beads, as the little ones find the sparkly strands irresistible. And have our own parade around the house with purple, gold and green streamers. But first, we'll eat that cake. Yum.
Here are a few great Mardi Gras links to get your own party going...
- Hosting your own celebration? You'll need these free printable tags.
- Decorate with some Purple (for justice), Green (for faith) and Gold (for power).
- Put on some classic New Orleans tunes, like the Neville Brothers.
- Instead of beads for the kids, try making this Mardi Gras necklace with your little ones.
- Consider doing a New Orleans brunch for dinner - everyone loves breakfast anytime of day
- Loving these sweet treats. Your guests would love them too.
- In the Colorado high country? Don't miss this Mardi Gras Celebration in Snowmass.
- For those of you not lucky enough to be here in our backyard (Aspen), here is a roundup of Carnival celebrations across the US.
